President Xi Jinping:

• China considers New Zealand as an important partner and friend. The two sides should draw lessons from past experience and continue to push forward their comprehensive strategic partnership.

• It is natural that the two countries disagree on some issues, but the whole China-New Zealand relationship should not be represented or affected by the disagreements.

• The two countries should deepen exchanges and cooperation in such areas as trade and the economy, science and education, and implement the upgrading protocol of their free trade agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.

• The two countries should support local regions and young people to carry out more dialogue and communication so as to strengthen people-to-people friendship.

• The two sides should adhere to the right way forward in economic globalization, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation and jointly address global challenges such as climate change.

• China's policy toward the Pacific Island countries is always for pursuing peace, seeking development and promoting cooperation.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern:

• New Zealand and China enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges. The bilateral relationship has maintained a robust momentum of development despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

• The two sides should take the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations to draw lessons, intensify high-level exchanges and deepen cooperation in fields including trade and the economy, education and climate response.

• China is an important force in promoting the world's future development and prosperity. New Zealand adheres to the one-China policy and is committed to enhancing communication and boosting understanding with China.
