CPPCC National Committee members discuss ecological civilization

The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference held a promotion meeting on Thursday, in which two of its members delivered lectures on ecological civilization construction.

Other CPPCC members attended the meeting from Beijing and Yinchuan of Ningxia Hui autonomous region through video link. It was one of a series of activities organized by the CPPCC to promote the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Song Xin, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group, gave a speech on practicing the concept of green and low-carbon development from Beijing.

He said there is one chapter on ecological civilization in the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC that stresses pursuing green development and promoting harmony between humanity and nature.

During his speech, Song shared his understanding of the historical achievements in the construction of ecological civilization in China, the significance and innovative measures of developing energy conservation and environmental protection industries.

Jiang Qi, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and a researcher of forestry and grassland ecology from Ningxia, shared the story of the construction of the Three-North Shelter Forest Program at the venue in Yinchuan.

He introduced the background, history, goal and significance of the project, as well as its achievements in building ecological barrier, maintaining food security, improving people's livelihood, and showing a good international image for the country.

Cui Bo, chairman of CPPCC Ningxia Hui autonomous regional committee, who presided over the conference, called for political advisers in the region to contribute wisdom for the construction of ecological civilization.
