China congratulates Brazil's Lula on victory

Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian on Monday expressed China's hearty congratulations to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on being elected as Brazilian president again, as well as its wishes Brazil will keep making new accomplishments in national development.
China and Brazil upgraded their ties to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012.
Since establishing diplomatic relations 48 years ago, the two large developing countries and important emerging markets have witnessed sound and steady development of bilateral ties and achieved rich outcomes in their pragmatic cooperation, Zhao said at a daily news conference.
China has always treated ties with Brazil from a strategic perspective and hopes to work with the new Brazilian government to further promote ties, Zhao said.
Serving as Brazilian president from 2003 to 2010, Lula won Brazil's presidential election on Sunday.
