Shanghai reports 38 new COVID-19 infections, all found in quarantine
Shanghai reported four new local confirmed COVID-19 cases and 34 asymptomatic new infections on Tuesday.
All cases were found within quarantined populations, said the city's health commission, which designated 10 new areas in the city as medium-risk zones.
The city has been experiencing a rebound in local new infections since the National Day holiday. Most new local infections are inbound visitors or residents returning from other provinces and their close contacts.
To curb the spread of the virus, Shanghai has tightened epidemic control measures, mandating inbound visitors or returning residents to undergo a nucleic acid test once every day for three days upon arrival. All residents in the city are also required to participate in at least two screening tests each week till early November.
