The corridor, 98.7 meters long and 19 meters high, aims to ensure quality of living environment, maintain exchanges between monkey groups, ensure the safety of humans and animal, and balance transportation development and ecological protection, according to the builder China First Metallurgical Group, headquartered in Wuhan, Hubei province.

Gao Xu, project manager of the company, said that, when completed in late September, the inner and outer sides of the corridor will have protective nets. Vegetation will be planted to imitate the monkeys' natural environment.

The expressway, with a planned length of 164 kilometers, will link over 10 towns and villages in Guangxi.
