Kites are probably one of the most underrated, yet exhilarating toys a child could ever have. But to Jacob Ilczyszyn, a Polish man living in the World Capital of Kites – Weifang, in China, it was one of the most impressive icons of Chinese culture that he was eager to explore.

Now middle-aged, Jacob has lived in Weifang for almost nine years and had never thought that kites could be so diverse. Embracing his curiosity, he now flies many different kinds of kites and has taken it upon himself to try and make some of his own. He said that he is committed to transmitting it to other areas as a way to help more people learn about Chinese traditional culture.

Watch this video to learn more about his fascination with kites.
