Zhuozhou in North China's Hebei province started static management on Tuesday to curb a COVID-19 outbreak, as the city detected eight positive cases in preliminary nucleic acid testing.

The eight cases were found in a high-risk group for the virus on Tuesday and have been quarantined for treatment, health authorities said at a conference on Tuesday.

To cut off the transmission chain and stamp out the virus, Zhuozhou suspended public transport in and out of the city. Residents are urged to stay home. All businesses were also suspended except those listed as essential.

The city also started mass nucleic acid testing on Tuesday.
