Guizhou takes measures to improve average life expectancy

In recent years, Southwest China's Guizhou province has been adhering to the "healthy Guizhou strategy" to maintain and protect people's health and had increased its average life expectancy to 75.2 years old by the end of 2020, according to a news conference held in its capital city Guiyang on Aug 4.

Guizhou has taken various measures such as spreading awareness about health, diet, fitness, tobacco, mental health, "internet + medical treatment", and created a healthy environment.

By the end of 2021, Guizhou's per capita sports ground area had reached 2.06 square meters, the completion rate of smoke-free Party and government organs had reached 82 percent, and 98.3 percent of surface water quality had reached or surpassed the national class III level.

Telemedicine services were offered 3.1 million times, the construction of clinical nutrition departments in public hospitals was promoted, and the nutritional meal plan for students covered all schools.

Guizhou has improved its health security system for people of different ages and occupations, and constantly improved its health service capacity.

It has accelerated the construction of regional medical centers and signed co-construction agreements with three high-quality hospitals. Construction started on four provincial-level regional medical centers, and the construction of 100 county-level medical sub centers was promoted.

Guizhou's maternal mortality rate, infant mortality rate and mortality rate among children under the age of 5 have exceeded the national level for the past two years.

The coverage rates of occupational health examination and occupational disease diagnosis services have reached 100 percent, and Guizhou has established its first mountain emergency medical rescue system and improved its elderly health service system.

Guizhou has also implemented special actions for the prevention and control of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, infectious diseases and endemic diseases.

It is also the ninth province to eliminate malaria in China.
