HKSAR govt fully supports countermeasures by central authorities in response to Pelosi's Taiwan visit
HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government has reiterated it fully supports and facilitates countermeasures by the central authorities in response to the visit to China's Taiwan region by Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The HKSAR government firmly opposes any external forces interfering in the internal affairs of China, and will fully support and facilitate all necessary measures by the central government to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, a spokesperson for the HKSAR government said on Friday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday announced countermeasures in response to Pelosi's visit to China's Taiwan region.
The spokesperson added that the HKSAR government will closely monitor developments and keep in contact with the relevant authorities of the central government.
