Adapted from the popular comic series Crazy! Kwai Boo, the feature-length animated film Crazy Kwai Boo: Sanxingdui Spirited Away will open across Chinese mainland on July 29.

First published in 2009, the comic series, which is created by artist Gui Huazheng who is more known by his pen name A Gui, centers on the title role, Kwai Boo, a maverick inventor and optimistic boy who's constantly involved in new adventures.

Marking the second outing following the first Kwai Boo feature animated movie released in 2015, Sanxingdui Spirited Away has joined hands with director Wang Yunfei and the comic artist Gui, who also serves as the movie's scriptwriter.

Set in Guanghan in Sichuan, where the world-renowned Sanxingdui Bronze Age site is the located, the animated tale fictionalizes that Boo alongside his friends stumbled upon a parallel universe, unfortunately waking up a sleeping villain, the younger brother of an ancient Shu state ruler.
