Ningxia confirms one bubonic plague case
Ningxia Hui autonomous region confirmed a bubonic plague case on Tuesday, according to the region's health commission.
The patient, 45, started to feel uncomfortable during the morning of July 12, with symptoms of fever, fatigue, unconsciousness and watery diarrhea. He went to Yinchuan in Ningxia from Inner Mongolia autonomous region on the day.
Working as a shepherd, the man, surnamed Liu, lived at a pasture in Otog Front Banner, Ordos in Inner Mongolia.
He was diagnosed with plague at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University on Tuesday, following transfers from two other hospitals in Ningxia.
The region started an emergency response on Tuesday night to curb further transmission. A series of prevention and control measures are being taken, the commission said.
