Youths to gather to discuss shared future
Almost 2,000 youth representatives from more than 100 countries will attend the World Youth Development Forum from Thursday to Saturday, the Chinese Communist Youth League Central Committee said in a release on Tuesday. The forum, themed "For a Shared Future: Promoting Sustainable Development with Youth and for Youth" will be held online and offline in cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Nanjing. There are four subforums on employment and entrepreneurship, climate change and green development, digital economy, and inclusive, equitable and quality education. More than 100 guest speakers from home and abroad will make speeches. The forum aims to create a platform for dialogues among international organizations, governments, youth organizations, young leaders and all sectors of the society.
President elected for rights organization
Padma Choling, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, was elected as the new president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies on Tuesday at the first meeting of its fifth national council in Beijing. About 200 members attended the meeting, during which they deliberated and adopted the work report of the society's fourth national council, revised its regulations and elected the members of the fifth national council, standing council and leading bodies. Jiang Jianguo, deputy director of the National Ethnic and Religious Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, was elected as the society's executive vice-president.
