Ambassador Zheng Zeguang meets Chambers Wales President Paul Slevin

On 6 July, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang, while visiting Wales, met with Chambers Wales President Paul Slevin and exchanged views with him on strengthening dialogue and cooperation between China and the Welsh business community.

Slevin introduced to Ambassador Zhengthe Chambers Wales and its member companies, saying that Wales has seen rapid development in the technology and innovation industry in recent years, with world-leading enterprises in financial, emerging and information technologies. China has made world acknowledged achievement in economic and social development, which has provided important opportunities for Welsh enterprises to expand cooperation with China. The Chambers Wales is willing to support more local enterprises to establish partnerships with Chinese enterprises and actively expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

Ambassador Zheng spoke positively of the remarkable results achieved by Wales in industrial transformation and upgrading and introduced the enormous achievements of China's economic and social development. Ambassador Zheng said that after many years of efforts, China has eliminated absolute poverty, become the second largest economy in the world, and successfully expanded the middle-income group to more than 400 million people. China's economy has great potential and strong resilience, and the long-term trend of improvement will not change. China stands ready to share development opportunities with Wales.

Ambassador Zheng said that the economies of China and Wales are highly complementary and the potential for cooperation is far from being fully explored. China has world-leading manufacturing capacity, fast-rising innovation capacity, efficient technology application and promotion capacity, and a large consumer market. Welsh companies are welcome to participate in the 5th China International Import Expo to explore the Chinese market for further opportunities. Chinese entrepreneurs are also willing to invest in Wales. He expressed hope that the Chambers Wales will strengthen ties with Chinese enterprises and business associations to match the demands on both sides and expand cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win outcome.
