The United Kingdom's Prime Minister Boris Johnson will resign as the nation's leader today after a string of resignations from his government.
Johnson has spoken to the chairman of the Conservative Party's 1922 Committee and agreed to step down.
A No 10 spokesperson said: "The prime minister will make a statement to the country today."
It is expected that he will attempt to remain as prime minister until the party's annual conference in the fall, to allow a leadership contest to take place and a smooth transition of power.
More than 50 ministers have resigned from Johnson's government since Tuesday evening following the latest in a series of scandals and questions about his character.
