The Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA) is holding its ninth annual returned scholars summit of innovation and entrepreneurship Hainan Free Trade Port from July 6 to 8 in Sanya, South China's Hainan province.
Entitled "Overseas Returnees Jointly Share Hainan's New Future," the annual summit will invite nearly 1,000 renowned experts, researchers, entrepreneurs, and representatives of overseas students.
This annual summit has four sub-forums on the topics of internet and digital economy, modern biomedicine, high-tech industries, as well as how to entice talented personnel to come to the Hainan FTP. As Hainan is currently accelerating its construction of a national ecological civilization experimental zone, one of the summit's most highly anticipated events is the "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality" roundtable talk.
To date, Hainan has collected a lot of information on key industry investment projects, covering tourism, modern service industry, high-tech industry, and tropical characteristic high-efficiency agriculture. Making use of the opportunity of holding the annual summit, Hainan will focus on promoting the advantages of its FTP policy, environment, location, and business environment, striving to generate pragmatic results.
Established in 1913, the WRSA is a national association of returned Chinese students from overseas under the leadership of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and the guidance of the United-Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee.
As one of the most important activities currently held by the WRSA, their annual forums, as well as innovation and entrepreneurship summits have been held eight times since 2012. In recent years, their events have resulted in more than 1.2 trillion yuan ($182 billion) being invested in nearly 400 cooperation projects.
