Shanghai reports one new infection outside quarantine
Shanghai reported one locally transmitted COVID-19 asymptomatic infection outside of quarantine and lockdown communities on Sunday, the Shanghai Health Commission said at a press briefing.
The patient is a 37-year-old woman living on West Guangfu Road of Putuo district. Her nucleic acid test returned an abnormal results during regular nucleic acid tests for all residents.
The community the fully vaccinated woman resided in was categorized as a high-risk area for the virus' spread, and two restaurants – one near her home and the other in Baoshan district – she had visited became medium-risk areas.
"Shanghai has entered into a stage of fully restoring normal production and life. However, reports of infections remind us the risk of epidemic rebounding always exists and we shall never tolerate even the slightest slack," said Zhao Dandan, deputy director of the Shanghai Health Commission.
He reiterated the importance of all residents abiding by strict personal protection protocols at public venues.
