Georgian film producer companies promote country as filming location in Hollywood

Representatives from six Georgian production companies have promoted the country as an attractive filming location with favourable terms for cinema production in Hollywood, Enterprise Georgia state programme announced on Tuesday.

The film professionals visited Los Angeles over the past few weeks for meetings with their American counterparts from Universal Pictures, HBO, Warner Bro, Disney, Paramount, Lionsgate and 20th Century Studios.

Qualities of Georgian filming locations through the Film in Georgia promotion programme, a Government initiative to stimulate Georgian cinema sector by offering favourable conditions for local and international filmmakers, were reviewed at the gatherings.

The programme offers a cash rebate of 20-25 percent of production expenses incurred in Georgia, as a way of encouraging parties to film in the country and support the development of the local film industry.

Enterprise Georgia said the meetings had also involved American film industry representatives "who are now considering Georgia as one of the important locations in Eastern Europe for shooting films". 

The talks have led to an agreement of a next visit of US-based cinema professionals to Georgia for their introduction to the production potential of the country’s locations, Enterprise Georgia said.
