A 6-meter-high statue of Niu Gundam, a robotic character in popular Japanese sci-fi anime, appeared recently in the Taikoo Hui shopping mall in Guangzhou, Guangdong province — its debut on the Chinese mainland.

Posing alongside, as if fighting, is a statue of rival Sazabi.

A 3-meter-tall bust of the Freedom Gundam is also making its global debut at the mall, which is also hosting exhibitions spanning Gundam's four-decade history and models made by Chinese champions in the Gunpla Builders World Cup tournament in recent years.
