Donggang in Liaoning province has implemented temporary traffic control measures since Saturday to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Authorities in Donggang, a city under the administration of Dandong, said in a notice on Saturday that all roads across the city are subject to temporary traffic restrictions starting on Saturday, except for emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire engines and those transporting supplies.

Liaoning province reported 25 asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 on Saturday, all detected in Dandong. The total number of infections in Dandong has accumulated to 103 since May 24, all being asymptomatic carriers.

Epidemiological investigations and genome sequencing analysis showed that the current outbreak in Dandong is not on the same transmission chain of its outbreak in late April. It has the characteristics of COVID resurgence in bordering cities, involving sporadic cases and multiple and short transmission lines, said health commission in the Dandong on Saturday.
