Beijing reports one new case at community level

Beijing reported 18 new locally transmitted cases as of 3 pm on Monday, bringing the total number of infections to 1,752 since April 22, according to Liu Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, who spoke at a news conference on Monday afternoon.

Of the new infections, 17 were reported in quarantine locations, and one was found from mass nucleic acid testing at community level in Fengtai district.

The city had not reported new cases from the community level for three consecutive days before Monday.

"The new case reported at the community level has warned us the risk of of infection still exists," Liu said.

Of all 1,752 cases reported since April 22, Chaoyang district registered 424 cases, the most in the outbreak, followed by Fangshan, which reported 413. Fengtai has reported 385 and Haidian has reported 262.

Chaoyang has not reported any cases from the community level in the past seven days and Fangshan has had no community cases for 10 days running.

As of Monday, Beijing had four high-risk areas for COVID-19 and 14 medium-risk areas.
