Opera milestone

An outdoor opera based on the life of a Tang Dynasty (618-907) princess kicked off its 10th-year of performance on Thursday in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region. Princess Wencheng was first staged in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, in 2013. Since then it has been a tourism hit, alongside other highlights such as the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple. The 90-minute show tells the story of Princess Wencheng, who came all the way from Chang'an, capital of the country in the Tang Dynasty, known today as the city of Xi'an, to marry Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo more than 1,300 years ago.

New Legoland resorts

The Legoland theme park portfolio is to add three new members from China. Resorts are being built in Shanghai; Shenzhen in Guangdong province; and Meizhou in Sichuan province, business news portal Meadin reported. Construction on the Shanghai resort resumed on Wednesday. Designed as one of the largest Legoland theme parks in the world, it is scheduled to open in early 2024. The construction of the Shenzhen resort started in late April. Meanwhile, the 57-hectare resort in Sichuan is under construction and slated to begin operation in 2023.

An accommodation trade museum opened its doors on International Museum Day, which falls on May 18 each year. The new museum, located on the fourth floor of LN Garden Hotel, Guangzhou in Guangdong province, is the first of its kind in China. It focuses on the evolution of hotels in China and abroad, as well as the development trends of the hospitality industry. Covering some 1,600 square meters of floor space, the museum includes various service sections, including exhibition, multimedia, dining and cultural products promotion.
