BEIJING - China's road freight volume fell 3.9 percent year-on-year in the first four months of the year, data from the Ministry of Transport showed.

More than 11.1 billion tons of road cargo were transported during this period, according to the ministry.

In April alone, China's road freight volume came in at around 2.96 billion tons, the ministry said.

Northeast China's Jilin province led the decline among 31 provincial-level regions, reporting a year-on-year contraction of 32.6 percent in the January-April period, followed by Tianjin Municipality and Jiangsu Province.
