Annual list of recipients of top honor for young Chinese unveiled

BEIJING -- China's youth organizations on Tuesday unveiled their annual list of winners of the China Youth May Fourth Medal -- the top honor for outstanding young Chinese people -- in the 26th iteration of the awards event.
A total of 122 individuals and 33 groups were on the list.
The Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation recently decided to award the medals to 49 young people and 16 youth groups, and also confirmed the same honor for another 73 individuals and 17 other groups, according to an official statement.
Olympic athletes and researchers and engineers in the aerospace science and technology sector are among the medal recipients.
The awarding of the China Youth May Fourth Medal began in 1997 and usually takes place around China's Youth Day, May 4.
