The domestic job market remained stable in the first quarter of this year, with more people being covered by State-level social security, said the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security on Wednesday.

The latest figures provided by the ministry showed that 2.85 million people landed jobs in urban areas in the first three months of the year.

Through the end of March, about 1.03 billion people were covered by State-level pension insurance, and 230 million people by unemployment insurance, according to the ministry.

The ministry said that it will keep making efforts to help college graduates — expected to number over 10.76 million this year — land jobs, which is vital to the stability of the job market.

Chen Yongjia, vice-director of the ministry's employment promotion department, said at an online conference on Wednesday that college graduates are treasured human resources whose employment is of great importance to their families' happiness and, more importantly, the nation's high-quality development.

He added that the ministry will continue to provide graduates employment information and offer them guidance and services to help them find work in the coming months.
