Georgia and Greece celebrate 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries on April 20.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry said Greece was one of the first countries in Europe to recognise Georgia as an independent state since the latter’s secession from the Soviet Union.
The Government of Greece supports Georgia’s sovereignty, its territorial integrity and the non-recognition policy [of Georgia’s Russian-occupied breakaway regions]; Georgia’s European aspirations; Georgia’s integration in NATO,” MFA Georgia wrote.

The Ministry noted the Georgian diaspora in Greece “actively participated” in the country’s “cultural, social and political life.”
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and President Salome Zourabichvili, along with US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, attended a solidarity concert marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries on Saturday evening.
US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan has delivered a speech in celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Georgia and the US at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia earlier today. Ambassador Degnan reaffirmed that Georgia and the US are "strategic partners," and the US is "very proud" to be assisting Georgia in strengthening democracy.
Georgia marked 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations with Germany by lighting the iconic Tbilisi TV Tower in the colours of the German and Georgian national flags on the evening of April 13.
The German Embassy in Tbilisi said they were “pleased” about the sign of “close cooperation” between two countries.
The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reiterated support of his Government for Georgia in a letter marking the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, sent to his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili, the Government’s Administration said on Monday.
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili marked 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Netherlands on Friday, saying the two countries were bound with “strong ties of friendship.”
