Mountainous areas in southern Jiangxi province have a long history in bamboo weaving. Lai Shihu, born in Huanglong town, Dayu county, Jiangxi province, is a local craftsman. He began making bamboo products when he was 17 years old.
In the 1990s, with the development of the bamboo processing industry, more products began being made by machine rather than by hand. Lai had no choice but to become a migrant.
Things began to change in 2015, when rural tourism sprang up in his hometown. A tourist resort was established, becoming a stage to show and inherit bamboo weaving craft. He followed the traditional exquisite craft and at the same time, injected new elements to make bamboo weaving more colorful and attracting many tourists.
