Mayor removed from post in Jilin city

Wang Lu, mayor of Jilin city, was removed from his position, according to an official notice released on early Saturday.
Wang's other positions including deputy Party chief of the city in Northeast China's Jilin province was also removed.
Wang Ji was nominated as candidate for the city's new mayor.
As of 1 pm on Friday, Jilin province had reported 526 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 590 asymptomatic carriers in the recent outbreak, which began on March 1, officials announced. Of the confirmed cases, 396 were found in Jilin city.
