UN Secretary-General sends Lunar New Year message

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent Lunar New Year greetings to everyone who celebrates the holiday via video message.

"Chun Jie Kui Le! Happy Lunar New Year! I am pleased to send you my warmest greetings as we begin the Year of the Tiger." Guterres sent his wishes in both Chinese and English.

In the video message provided by the UN, Guterres thanked China and the Chinese people for their continuing support of multilateralism and the UN.

Guterres will attend the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics. He said the Olympic spirit shines as a beacon of human solidarity and he looks forward to safe and successful Games.
