4 frozen to death near Canada-US border identified as Indian nationals

OTTAWA - The four people found dead near the Canada-US border last week have been identified as Indian nationals, according to a release from the High Commission of India in Ottawa on Thursday.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) found the bodies of the four people, who froze to death while trying to cross the Canada-US border in Emerson, Canada, on Jan. 19.

The four were from the same family.

The release said that after a medical examination, Canadian authorities have determined all the deaths to be consistent with exposure to outdoor elements.

It said a special team led by an officer from the Consulate General of India in Toronto is currently in Manitoba helping with the investigation.
