Rural postal systems to be strengthened
China's parcel delivery regulator has set itself the goal of focusing on tasks benefiting livelihoods this year, including the development of rural logistics and protection of the legal rights of couriers, a spokesman for the State Post Bureau of China said in Beijing on Thursday.
The industry will focus on rural areas to improve service, strengthen protection of the personal information of senders and recipients, and enhance the protection of couriers' legal rights, said Hou Yanbo, spokesman for the bureau.
The sector is set to continue promoting the expansion of rural logistics systems and improve quality.
Parcel delivery companies are encouraged to use technologies that protect personal information, such as virtual phone numbers and electronic identification cards.
China's parcel delivery sector has boomed in recent years. Last year, more than 100 million were sent and received across China, ranking No 1 in the world in terms of scale.
