On February 1 and 2, everyone’s favorite works from popular films will be performed for the first time at the Astana Opera Grand Hall, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

The Screen Melodies program, prepared by the talented musician Alikhan Idrissov, will feature soundtracks from Kazakh and Soviet film classics, as well as wonderful cartoon melodies.

Film music is a special kind of art. Having once found a response in the viewers’ hearts, it continues to live on separately from the film itself, often becoming much more popular than the film. The traditional yearly concert always being sold out speaks for itself.

Screen Melodies, which won great love from the audience, will be presented this year at the Astana Opera Grand Hall: before that, film music was performed at the Baiseitova Chamber Hall.

“I am very grateful to the opera house management for supporting our initiative in holding a film concert at the Grand Hall. I decided to take this step thanks to my beloved wife Zhazira Nurzhaupova. Without her support, this concert would not have taken place,” conductor, republican competitions laureate Alikhan Idrissov says.

Being a big fan of Soviet cinema, the permanent head of the project is preparing an exciting program for the ninth time. Each time, he adds new zest to the famous melodies, trying to create it so that young people would learn and fall in love with Soviet classics.

“In my student years, I paid a lot of attention to the music in films, how it conveys the characters’ personalities, the plot and the meaning of the film. It has always been interesting to me how famous composers wrote music for films. Then the idea to make a film concert was born,” Alikhan Idrissov says.

This year, the Astana Opera Orchestra, Chamber Choir under the direction of the Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Dautov and the soloists will perform works from such films as “My Sweet and Tender Beast”, “Watch Out for the Automobile”, “At Home Among Strangers, a Stranger Among His Own”, “Practical Joke”, “D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers”, compositions from the Kazakh films “Kyz Zhibek”, "Angel Wearking Tubeteika” and TV series “Crossroads”, as well as from the cartoon series “The Bremen Town Musicians” and others will be a great present for the audience.

The Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Talgat Mussabayev, Ardak Sabyr, Ulpan Aubakirova, Yeltai Mustanov, Yerlan Merekenov, Alikhan Zeinolla, Ramzat Balakishiyev, Rassul Zharmagambetov, Yerzhan Saipov, Bakhtiyar Omarov will take the stage two evenings in a row – on February 1 and 2.

Ruslan Baimurzin will perform instrumental solo on the dombyra, and Duman Oryngaliuly will perform a trumpet solo.

There is not the slightest doubt that the viewers will find a one-of-a-kind aesthetic pleasure from the performance of their favourite compositions that will evoke nostalgia for the good old cinema.
