Fujian sees GDP up 8% in 2021

Fujian province generated 4.88 trillion yuan ($770.42 billion) in GDP in 2021, up 8 percent from that in 2020, according to a statement released by the provincial statistics bureau on Jan 24.

Of which, the added value from the province's primary industries increased 4.9 percent to 289.77 billion yuan. Meanwhile, Fujian's secondary and tertiary industries had an added value of 2.29 trillion yuan and 2.3 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.5 percent and 8.8 percent, respectively, from 2020.

In 2021, the total added value from Fujian's agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries industries generated 520.1 billion yuan, up 5.1 percent from that in 2020. The output of vegetables, edible fungi, tea, meat, eggs, milk, and other major agricultural products steadily increased over the same period.

The province's industrial production also continued to recover steadily in 2021. The industrial added value increased by 9.9 percent from 2020, 0.3 percentage points higher than the national average.

In 2021, the added value of the province's service industry grew 8.8 percent from 2020. In terms of sectors, the transportation, storage and postal service grew 13.1 percent, wholesale and retail grew 15.4 percent, accommodation and catering grew 14.2 percent, information transmission, software, and information technology grew 17.4 percent, and leasing and business services grew 7.9 percent.

The province's investment in 2021 was generally stable with fixed asset investment up 6 percent from 2020. Investment in manufacturing, high-tech manufacturing, real estate development, and infrastructure grew 13.9 percent, 43.1 percent, 2.8 percent, and 2.4 percent, respectively, from that in 2020.

Statistics also showed that in 2021, the province's total retail sales of consumer goods surged 9.4 percent to 2.04 trillion yuan, its imports and exports soared 30.9 percent to 1.84 trillion yuan, and the total revenue from the general public budget reached 574.3 billion yuan, up 11.3 percent from 2020.

In addition, statistics showed that the province's employment was generally stable in 2021. The registered urban unemployment rate in 2021 dropped 4.8 percent from that in 2020. Meanwhile, residents' incomes increased in 2021 and the per capita disposable income of the province's residents was 40,659 yuan, a nominal growth of 9.3 percent and an actual growth of 8.5 percent from 2020.
