Woman dies after incident at Shanghai metro
The elderly woman who was caught by a closing door on the metro platform on Saturday afternoon has died, the operator of the Shanghai metro announced on Tuesday.
The incident took place at Qi'an Road Station on Line 15. The woman died after receiving emergency treatment in the hospital.
The metro operator said in an online notice that the cause of the accident is under investigation.
"We deeply regret the unfortunate death of the passenger and will fully cooperate with investigations. We'll also offer comfort to the family members and deal with any follow-up matters while further ensuring the safe operation of the line," read the notice.
The metro operator has reminded the public not to force their way onto or off the train when the train and platform doors are closing.
