Yu Xiang, a senior researcher at Tsinghua University's Center for International Security and Strategy, said Xi's proposals at the previous Davos events focused on openness, inclusiveness and cooperation.

As the pandemic develops, leaders around the world need to build up consensus on post-pandemic development, including digital trade and the digital economy, and strengthen policy coordination in related fields, Yu said.

The Global Risks Report 2022, recently published by the World Economic Forum, listed rising commodity prices, inflation and debt as well as widening digital, education and skills gaps as emerging risks.

The report said that a divergent economic recovery from the crisis created by the pandemic risks deepening global divisions, and restoring trust and fostering cooperation within and between countries will be crucial to addressing these challenges and preventing the world from drifting further apart.

Since the start of the pandemic, China has been actively developing international anti-virus cooperation, promoting global economic recovery, contributing to the improvement of global governance, and working with other countries to cope with their shared challenges.

"In this fragile and uneven period of global recovery, the World Economic Situation and Prospects 2022 (published on Thursday) calls for better targeted and coordinated policy and financial measures at the national and international levels," said United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

He added that now is the time "to close the inequality gaps within and among countries".

"If we work in solidarity-as one human family-we can make 2022 a true year of recovery for people and economies alike," he said.
