China's Shanghai reports 2 new local COVID-19 cases

SHANGHAI - Shanghai reported two new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and three asymptomatic ones on Thursday, local authorities announced at a press briefing.
Four of the cases are close contacts of an imported asymptomatic case reported on Tuesday. Another one is the sibling of a close contact, and they lived together.
The workplace of the confirmed cases has been designated as a medium-risk area for COVID-19.
All of the cases have been sent to a designated medical institution for treatment, and local authorities have launched an epidemiological investigation.
By 7 pm Thursday, the city had identified 304 close contacts and 2,830 secondary close contacts of the newly-added confirmed cases and asymptomatic ones, all of whom have been placed under quarantine and received negative results following nucleic acid testing.
