In one Shanxi county, red lanterns are everywhere

As Spring Festival approaches, workers in Yangzhao village of Jishan county, Shanxi province, are busy making red lanterns.

With a history of more than 100 years of lantern-making, the village has become a well-known production, distribution and marketing center. There are around 20 factories and 1,000 workers involved in the industry there.

As many as 2 million lanterns can be produced annually, with an output value of 200 million yuan ($31.4 million).

During peak season every year, all the villagers participate in the work.
