The Yayuncun sub-district in Beijing's Chaoyang district, which is located in the core functional area of the Winter Olympics, has upgraded 405 accessible facilities, including roads, handrails and washbasins for the visually impaired, making it more convenient for the elderly and people with disabilities.
The sub-district hosted the 1990 Beijing Asian Games and the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and will host the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics next year.
The shopping center in the area has invested 150,000 yuan ($23,554) in the renovation of slopes, washrooms, and braille buttons for the visually impaired in elevators, as well as more accessible parking spots.
