Tianjin’s Binhai New Area and Dongli district are teaming up to facilitate the city’s planned development scheme of "twin towns"-namely the downtown and the Binhai coastal town area. Located in the middle between the two areas, Dongli is expected to promote the twin towns’ building.

Think tank experts, entrepreneur representatives and authorities exchanged ideas in a forum on Wednesday where a cooperation framework was reached between the two districts.

The framework adheres to the principles of mutually beneficial, technology-oriented, and systematically coordinated development. Cooperation will focus on six key areas, namely, development plans, industries, policies, supporting facilities, social undertakings and ecological protection. The two districts are hoping the whole picture will strengthen might and achieve win-win results.

The two districts will deepen their cooperation in innovation, financing, policies and human resources to expand advantageous industries such as automobiles, high-end equipments, biomedical, and aerospace.

Yan Feng, deputy head of Dongli, said that the next five years will be a critical period for Dongli to improve the quality and efficiency of development and create a better life for the people. The coordinated development of the two districts is of great significance and the two districts will jointly contribute to Tianjin's goal of a modern socialist metropolis.
