President Xi Jinping underlined on Tuesday the importance of offering attentive, dedicated and targeted services to retired cadres, urging workers in this field to strive for extraordinary accomplishments.
In an instruction issued on Tuesday, Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the significance of work related to retired cadres and commended workers in this field for making unsung and unselfish sacrifices.

Xi said the retired cadres have remained unwavering to their original aspirations and missions, been firmly committed to their ideals and faith, and remained loyal to the cause of the Party and the people.
He also called on them to carry forward the Party's fine traditions and ensure that the revolutionary spirit is passed down from generation to generation.
The instruction was issued at a conference held in Beijing on Tuesday to honor outstanding units and individuals devoted to work related to retired cadres.
