Biden shouldn't use 'democracy summit' to start more cold wars: US magazine

BEIJING -- Responding to the coming so-called "Summit for Democracy" hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden, the U.S. magazine The Nation on Wednesday published an article saying this attempt is reminiscent of a revival of Cold War politics.
The so-called summit "deeply distorts the real security threats America faces," the article said, reminding that the impacts of extreme weather exacted an ever-greater toll on American lives and resources, and climate change is not a distant threat.
Concerning climate, "no progress can be made without China," the article said.
Although over a year has passed since Donald Trump left the presidential office, the influence of his lies about China and COVID-19 -- a rise of hate crimes against Asian Americans -- continues, according to the article.
