Northeast China's Jilin province is to further boost the development in its auto sector with the recent opening of the FAW-Volkswagen New Technology Development Center in Changchun city, according to local media reports.

The center conducted its first safety crash test the same day it opened. The ID.4 CROZZ, which is the first pure electric SUV under the FAW-Volkswagen brand, carried out a mobile obstacle avoidance and a collision test.

The development center has a total investment of 860 million yuan ($135 million), is comprised of industry-leading test equipment, and specializes in six major areas such as vehicle safety, drive systems, and vehicle energy consumption.

Its vehicle safety collision test center is one of China's most advanced safety test technology laboratories. It meets the requirements for vehicle safety development and regulatory testing, and its angular crash test area meets the requirements for future regulatory upgrades.

The new energy vehicle trial production test workshop is a large-scale workshop that integrates new energy vehicle testing and trial production resources and utilizes intensive management.
