Optics Valley hunts for global sci-tech talent online

The East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China) plans to host an online global elite recruitment fair for Optics Valley Laboratory and Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics in the mid-December.

It has been reported that the event will be livestreamed in Asia-Pacific region, North America and Europe in real time.

Three types of global talent are expected in the fair – leading scientists (professors and researchers from top universities or institutes), creative young scientists, and special researchers with doctoral degrees.

Optics Valley of China will offer competitive salaries (up to 1.2 million yuan ($187,200)), a good environment for scientific research, and high-quality welfare programs for children, medical care, and housing for such talent.

The Optics Valley Laboratory is led by Huazhong University of Science and Technology and was established by eight enterprises, including Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China Information and Communication Technologies Group Co.

Focusing on information, energy and life in the optoelectronic area, the lab is mainly concerned with four fields – optoelectronic devices and integration, laser technology and related equipment, bio-medicine imaging facilities, and flexible electronic materials and devices. The lab was designed to help solve problems in optoelectronics in China.

The Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics was one of China's six research centers authorized by the Ministry of Science and Technology back in 2017. The lab is striving to become an internationally influential hub for academic innovation, discipline advancement, talent cultivation, the dissemination of scientific knowledge, and technology transfers in the optoelectronic area.
