Yabulun Xiangshuigu Sharing Farm in Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county of Hainan province is the first poverty alleviation sharing farm in Hainan, as well as a model for the integration of agriculture and tourism.

The farm, with a total planned area of 3,820 mu (254.7 hectares), has a focus on developing the health tourism industry by relying on its advantageous environment. It also provides services related to health, outdoor sports, farming experience, vacation and leisure.

Xiao Yong, the general manager of the farm, said that the farm is divided into two phases. The first phase includes a hotel with 166 rooms, while the second phase will include a number of agricultural and cultural tourism projects.

Thirty resettlement villas for 54 farmer households in the Nanchun Economic Field have already been built for the farm, which has greatly improved local quality of life.

"I have worked here since 2017, and my monthly salary is now more than 3,000 yuan ($470). The workplace is close to my home and convenient to take care of my family," said Chen Long, a villager who works in the farm's field service department.

The first phase of the project has led to the employment of 23 villagers. After the completion of the second phase, it will provide more than 50 long-term jobs for villagers.

The farm has also cooperated with villagers by means of benefit-sharing compensation. It has distributed 85,500 yuan in dividends and benefited 21 rural households to date.

Meanwhile, the farm provides a free sales platform for local characteristic agricultural products to help farmers increase their incomes.
