To the 30th anniversary of Independence and Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Museum of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy hosted the opening of the exhibition "Almaty - the Golden Cradle of Independence", organized jointly with the Akimat of Almaty, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
The event was held under the auspices of the Elbasy Library Project "The Kazakhstan Way", the key idea of which is panoramic coverage of the development of regions and cities of the country within 30 years as a dynamic process of creation of the society of the future.
Welcoming the guests, Director of the Library of Elbasy Bakytzhan Temirbolat said: "It is deeply symbolic that on the eve of Independence Day we open an exhibition dedicated to the cradle of Independence - the city of Almaty. Exactly 30 years ago, in December 1991, such landmark events as the national election of the President on 1 December, the official inauguration of the Head of State on 10 December and the declaration of independence of Kazakhstan on 16 December were held here, the reference point of our sovereign state."
In 2015, the First President of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev, speaking at the Almaty Koktemi, noted: "Almaty is the city of eternal spring, the pearl of Central Asia… This metropolis is the "golden cradle" of Kazakhstan's independence, the place where the new history of our republic began."

The purpose of the exhibition "Almaty - the Golden Cradle of Independence" is to show the place and role of Almaty in the fate of independent Kazakhstan by demonstrating archival documents, photographs, exhibits from the collections of archives and museums of Almaty and the Library of Elbasy.
Akim of Almaty Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted that the presented expositions are dedicated to the achievements of the metropolis over thirty years of Independence.
"Over the years of Independence, the economy of Almaty has grown from 2.1 billion tenge in 1993 to 13.5 trillion tenge in 2020, and GRP per capita from 342.5 US dollars to 16.7 thousand US dollars. The population has increased 1.8 times - from 1,134 thousand people in 1991 to more than 2 million people in 2021. At the new stage of development of independent Kazakhstan, the city continues to be the scientific, educational, intellectual center of the country, and is the landmark of the cultural identity of our nation," Bakytzhan Sagintayev
The exhibition "Almaty - the Golden Cradle of Independence" consists of three sections:
1. "The Origins of Independence" is a set of materials about the December events of 1986, the chronicle of the events of 1991-1997, as well as important historical decisions taken in Almaty.
2. "The Kazakhstan way: achievements of Almaty for 30 years" demonstrates materials about the main achievements of the metropolis during the years of Independence in the social, economic, cultural spheres, as well as in sports. In an interactive form, the audience can get acquainted with the 30 significant events which took place in Almaty from 1991 to 2021, about the contribution of the city to world culture and civilization.
3. "Our Future: The Almaty-2050 Strategy" reflects the main reference points and strategic priorities of Almaty's long-term development: Almaty - a city without suburbs; a "smart" city; a city of equal opportunities; a safe city; a green city; a global business center; a cultural, creative city.
The exhibition in the museum Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy at the address - 11 Beibitshilik str., will run until January 28, 2022.
