CPC appoints seven to key Party posts

The Communist Party of China Central Committee announced the appointment of new Party secretaries for two autonomous regions and five provinces on Tuesday.

Wang Junzheng, former Party chief of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, has been appointed Party secretary of the Tibet autonomous region, the CPC Central Committee said.

Wang, 58, served in the provinces of Yunnan, Hubei and Jilin before being appointed Party chief of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region's Political and Law Committee in February 2019.

In April 2020, he became Party secretary and political commissar of the XPCC, which is a unique and specialized provincial-level paramilitary organization in Xinjiang.

Liu Ning, 59, who had been governor of Liaoning province since August 2020, was appointed Party chief of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Xu Qin was appointed Party secretary of Heilongjiang province, replacing Zhang Qingwei, 59, who has been appointed Party chief of Hunan province.

Xu, 60, once served as Party secretary of Shenzhen, Guangdong province. He became governor of Hebei province in April 2017.

Wang Ning, 60, former governor of Fujian province, was appointed Party secretary of Yunnan province.

The announcement also said that the governors of Jiangsu and Jiangxi provinces had been promoted to Party secretaries of the two provinces.

Wu Zhenglong, 57, the new Party chief of Jiangsu, had served as the governor of the province since 2017, while Yi Lianhong, 62, became Party chief of Jiangxi after being the province's governor for about three years.

Xinhua News Agency said the former Party chiefs of Tibet, Guangxi, Hunan, Yunnan, Jiangsu and Jiangxi had all reached retirement age.
