Artist Liu Kai recently displayed a group of his blue-and-white drawings to call public attention to ancient Chinese architecture threatened by continuous torrential rains earlier this month in Shanxi province.

Since 2014, the 29-year-old from Shanxi's Fushan county, has traveled across the province to created nearly 30 drawings of ancient Chinese architecture using only a pen — either a fountain pen or a ballpoint.

Liu is proud of Shanxi, his home province, which has been dubbed "a museum of ancient Chinese architecture". It has more than 70 percent of China's ancient wooden buildings. Ancient architecture and statues always appear in his paintings.
