Rules on data privacy of car users take effect
Trial regulations concerning vehicle data security were among several new administrative and legal documents to take effect on Friday. The regulations aim to address rising security challenges and close loopholes as vehicles become smarter and begin to generate and process data, said the Cyberspace Administration of China. According to the document, data operators must avoid collecting excessive data from cars, and protect the privacy of owners and users. Operators collecting and processing vehicle data in China will have to undergo a security assessment if they provide the data for the use of overseas businesses.
