Jinghe county in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region is developing goji berry cultivation and processing as a pillar industry.

The long duration of sunshine and the wide difference in temperature between day and night are conducive to the growth of the fruit. Currently, goji berry plantations cover 7,280 hectares in Jinghe. During the summer harvest season, more than 50,000 farmers are involved in picking the fruit, according to Zhao Yuling, director of the county's goji berry industry development bureau.
