Hainan will build a global New Energy Vehicle (NEV) experience center, according to the main forum of the 2021 World New Energy Vehicle Congress on Sept 16. The signing ceremony of the center's first batch of cooperation projects was also held on the same day.

The center is located at Guanlan Lake Tourism Park in Haikou, capital of Hainan province, and has a total investment of 4 billion yuan ($619 million) and a total planned area of 1,657 mu (110.5 hectares).

The center will introduce well-known global vehicle companies to settle in Hainan, and build a comprehensive experience center providing services of NEV display, driving experience, sales, maintenance and style design.

Additionally, a 3-kilometer testing track with 5G intelligent driving capabilities in line with international standards will also be integrated into the first phase of the project. The center will serve as the largest NEV station along the island-wide tourism ring road upon completion.
