Chongqing's twin beauties: pink muhly grass and Nuo theme parks
Recently, a sea of pink muhly grass is spotted at a scenic spot in Chongqing's Youyang Tujia and Miao autonomous county, drawing scores of visitors for a sightseeing stroll.
In the Valley of Stromatolites and Flowers Tourist Center in the county, more than 100 hectares of Hairawn muhly, or pink muhly grass are in full bloom, creating a lovely sea of pink landscape.
The valley boasts the largest Cambrian stromatolites geological relic in China. The rock deposits were found in a geological survey in 2017, covering a total of two square kilometers and dating back to the Cambrian Period some 500 million years ago.
The tourist spot displays 99 Nuo culture theme parks including the Three Emperors' Deck, the Totem Pillars and the Sky Eye.
Nuo culture was originally a tradition of worshipping heaven and the ancestors and praying for god's blessings as part of primitive nature and totem worship. Blended with romantic elements, the culture later embodies people's longing for good weather and an auspicious life, with Nuo Opera as the main form of expression. Nuo Opera is popular in many places in China.
